Information about the study
The course includes three modules:
- promoting inclusion (1 cr)
- exerting influence in society (2 cr)
- reinforcing inclusion in cooperation with clients and other actors (2 cr)
During this course you will learn to
- identify and apply various methods for promoting inclusion.
- utilise various techniques for exerting influence in society.
- act in cooperation with clients and other actors to develop inclusion

After course you know inclusion from different perspectives and you can use various techniques for exerting influence in society.
The course includes lectures, working life project (working in groups/pairs), report, assignments.
The course includes individual, paired/ small group assignments, and it´s largely implemented in working life cooperation. Instructions for the assignments will be available at Canvas workspace.
There is project work in Smile project / Collaboration with a non-governmental organization Yhteiset Lapsemme ry.
There is contact teaching at Tikkurila campus. Attendance requirement at the course will be 75% / 100% in order to achieve the required objectives. If your absences are more than 25% you are required to complete a substitute assignment assigned by the teacher.

According to the degree regulations (section 18) “students must be present in the first contact session or notify their teacher in charge if they cannot attend. If they fail to notify the teacher of their absence in the first contact session, their enrollment will be rejected. Another student in the queue may be enrolled in the course in the place of the absent student.” (Laurea degree regulations)
Attendance is also required for the training day on racism and anti-racist working approach and seminar. Additional information about the scheduling and implementation will be provided at the beginning of the course.
This is a five credits course that means 135 hours of student work.
It is important that you write down the due dates of the assignments in your calendar and reserve enough time to study.
