You will learn where you can gather data from and learn how to use it in different business operations. You will learn about big data, Internet of Things and digital platforms and APIs.
After completing the course, you will know how to identify the role of information in a value creation process and how to identify key business models enabled by digital data. You will learn a few “no-code” ways of experimenting with data products to validate the business model. Finally, you will also learn the effects of privacy regulations on data economy.
The course consists of four modules:
- Data economy in brief
- Data sources and business models
- Role of information in value creation
- Next steps in data economy
This course has been produced in cooperation with Osaango Oy. Lecturers on the videos are experts in data economy.
Information about the study
You’ll learn to:
- Explain why organizations need to apply data in decision making
- Explain where the data comes from and how it can be used (buying, selling, collecting data, big data from IoT, digital platforms and APIs, machine learning and AI vs. statistical methods)
- Identify the role of information in a value creation process
- Identify key business models enabled by digital data
- List a few “no-code” ways of experimenting with data products to validate the business model
- Summarize how intellectual privacy regulations shape the data economy
In order to sign up for this master’s level course, you must have a previous Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree or have equivalent skills.
After this course you know how to use data in different business operations.
You can complete the course at your own pace from June 1 to December 31, 2024. The course does not include scheduled teaching so you can start it anytime. Canvas learning platform is used for the course.
The scope is one credit, which is equivalent of 27 hours of studying.
Study materials are in Canvas learning platform.
For a passing grade, student has to complete all the required tests with a minimum score of 50%, all the required assignments and familiarize themselves with the course materials.
The course will be evaluated as either pass or fail.
