Urban Design by Spatial Psychology
The course will introduce the student to individual experience of space. It will cover topics such as development psychology, multisensory experience, culture and history of spaces, socio -architectual development, and validation of city scape. The course will look at the interaction between people and natural/built environment. In addition it will highlight the means to support user experience and behavior in built environment.

During the first lecture we will look at different ways of defining experience. Second phase will look at the multifaced history of environmental psychology and the last phase will concentrate to student presentations.
During this course you will learn to
- analyse locations and spaces from the perspective of environmental psychology
- apply means of nudging through spatial planning
- apply the principals of environmental psychology in spatial planning
- design socially, economically and ecologically sustainable facilities

After course you can design socially, economically and ecologically sustainable facilities. In addition you can apply the principals of environmental psychology in spatial planning.
- This is an interactive online implementation.
- The course is conducted online and does not require attendance on campus. The course includes scheduled teaching or guidance online, which is not recorded.
- The course includes working in pairs or groups.
- The course requires active participation and commitment to interactive studying.
- You will receive individual feedback for assignments from the teacher, and working life or peer feedback may also be utilised.

This is a five credits course that means 135 hours of student work.
The literature will be available in Canvas learning platform, which will open in the beginning of the autumn semester 2024.
This course will evaluate on scale 1-5 or fail.
To participate for course you must have bachelor’s degree from university of applied sciences, university or from similar educational institution.
